This custom order of the beautiful gown Capri required a change in the illusion back; to make it opaque which I completed by adding a lining layer on the inside. I completed this by tracing off a pattern from the back panel of this dress and cutting it out of some lining fabric the same ivory colour as the front lining.
Once all the pattern pieces were cut I bagged out two pieces (one for each side) and to give it a seamless look I hand-sewed in the lining pieces using an invisible blanket stitch. This was the most cost and time-effective way to do this custom order, as to bag out the lining piece with the illusion back would have involved taking the top off from the skirt and seperating the back from the front.
When doing a custom order it is important to think about how to do it cost-effectively, which entails coming up with quick solutions that still have a professional finish. Most custom orders will be done at the factory as that is the most cost-effective way for the company, however, this does require a larger time frame so some orders will be done in-house for this reason.
